Fitnessly privacy policy

Last updated 28 September 2026

Fitnessly is a calorie and nutrition tracker for iPhone. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. This page explains the little that leaves your iPhone, and why. In this policy, “we” means Fitnessly, the app’s developer.

The short version

What stays on your iPhone

Fitnessly stores everything you log on your iPhone: your food log, meals, favourites, weigh-ins, progress photos, water, fasts, goals and settings. The widget and the fasting Live Activity read the same data on your iPhone.

Your iPhone’s backups, to iCloud or to a computer, include this data, as they do for any app. Apple protects those backups under its own privacy policy.

To add a progress photo, you take it with the camera or choose it with the iOS photo picker. The picker gives Fitnessly only the photos you choose, not your whole library. Fitnessly keeps its own copy inside the app and never uploads it.

Apple Health

If you allow it, Fitnessly reads your steps, active energy, weight, water and workouts from Apple Health. It saves the weigh-ins, water and food nutrients you log in Fitnessly to Apple Health: energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat and fibre. iOS asks you about each type, and you can change your answers at any time in the Health app.

Fitnessly uses Health data only to show your activity and progress in the app. It never sends Health data to us or to third parties, never uses it for advertising or marketing, and doesn’t copy it to iCloud. The weights and water it reads are kept in the app’s storage on your iPhone, so your iPhone backups include them.

Food lookups

To find a food, Fitnessly sends the barcode you scanned or the words you typed to our food database, a service we run on Cloudflare. As with any internet request, the service also sees your IP address, and the request includes the app version.

We use each request only to send back matching foods. We don’t log barcodes or search words, keep a history of what you look up, or link lookups to you. We use your IP address only to limit how many lookups one device can make each minute, and we don’t store it. Foods you look up are saved on your iPhone, so they also work offline.

The food data comes from Open Food Facts and CoFID, the UK government’s food composition dataset. We copy it to our service in advance, so neither of them receives anything about you.

Feedback

If you send a message from Settings > Provide feedback, we receive it with your app version, iOS version and iPhone model, which help us understand the problem. It reaches us by email at feedback@iosly.app. It doesn’t include your name, your email address or anything you’ve logged unless you type it into the message. We can’t reply unless you include your email address.

To stop abuse of the feedback form, we keep a scrambled form of your IP address (a salted hash) for about a day, then delete it. We keep feedback emails only while they help us improve Fitnessly, and we’ll delete yours if you ask.

Camera and notifications

Fitnessly uses the camera to scan barcodes, which it reads on your iPhone, and to take progress photos. Camera images never leave your iPhone.

Reminders for water, weigh-ins and fasting are scheduled on your iPhone. There’s no notification server, and nothing is sent to us to deliver them.

This website

This website has no cookies, no analytics and no tracking, and it loads nothing from anyone else. We don’t log visits to it, beyond what Cloudflare processes to deliver it (see below).
